In the context of the observed dynamics from 2018 to 2022 concerning U.S. internal migration trends, the ascendency of specific industrial sectors, fluctuations in employment statuses, and the proliferation of remote work modalities, how these trajectories can be extrapolated to anticipate the emergent landscape of work beyond at the scale of the nation, state, and county? How can these informed projections be employed to guide policy frameworks, strategic investment, and urban planning methodologies?

Initially, we explore traditional methodologies to represent the net flows of people. However, it isn't easy to view and compare multiple categories of data on various scales smoothly. Therefore, we employ a new visualization methodology.

Therefore, we designed a multidimensional analytical website, to visualize the migration flow from 2018 till now, for citizens to find out the trendy destination for settlement, for business owners to explore new investment opportunities, and for governments to review where necessary resources should be located.

Impact
Shifting Tides successfully uncovers the migration flow change and the relationship between outliers as well as their demographic data such as population employment, occupation distribution, population, and work-from-home population yearly, to provide informative visualized guides for self-interpretations.

Achievement
This project manages to allow users to see urban spaces at various scales to feel the adaption impact from hybrid work modes, reveal the relationship between urban environment and target population attraction to provide data foundation for a further management strategy for facilities, and policies in the aspect of the demographic landscape.

Takeaway
Shifting Tides could include more visualizations such as commute patterns to investigate the correlation between inflow and outflow, and it could integrate visualization from one scale to another to reduce confusion.
